In celebration of its 33rd year in the power industry, Alsons Power Group, the power generation arm of the Mindanao-based Alcantara Group, launched its first-ever \u201cWe Power with Care Day,\u201d on July 11, marked by simultaneous environmental and community development activities across the country,\u00a0reinforcing the Group\u2019s commitment to sustainability and inclusive growth.<\/p>\n

The We Power with Care Day mobilized more than 600 individuals, including Alsons Power employees, community members, and local government partners across key sites in Bohol, Iligan, Makati, Negros Occidental, Sarangani, and Zamboanga. The participants took part in tree planting, river and coastal cleanups, and school support programs, bringing to life Group\u2019s brand promise, \u201cWe Power with Care.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis isn\u2019t just an anniversary event. It is a reflection of who we are and what we stand for. It\u2019s our way of giving back to the communities we serve and bringing to life our brand promise,\u00a0We Power with Care,\u201d said Antonio Miguel B. Alcantara, Chief Executive Officer of Alsons Power, during the Kick-off program of the We Power with Care Day.<\/p>\n
From Luzon to Mindanao, various activities took place across the Alsons Power\u2019s project and business units:<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In\u00a0Zamboanga City,\u00a0Western Mindanao Power Corporation (WMPC)\u00a0led a\u00a0coastal cleanup\u00a0in Sitio Bukana Mala, Bolong, collecting\u00a025 sacks of non-biodegradable wastes, weighing around 125 kilos,\u00a0with the help of\u00a0over 75 employees and community volunteers.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In\u00a0Murcia, Negros Occidental,\u00a0Bago Hydropower Resources Corporation (BHRC)\u00a0organized a\u00a0river cleanup\u00a0in Sitio Balasyang, removing\u00a0900\u00a0kilos of waste\u00a0and engaging\u00a0around 50 local stakeholders.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Mapalad Power Corporation (MPC)\u00a0in\u00a0Ubay, Bohol\u00a0planted\u00a0150 tree seedlings\u00a0within the plant premises with the help of 100 employees and volunteers from the community and government, supporting\u00a0reforestation and biodiversity conservation\u00a0in the area.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In\u00a0Iligan,\u00a0Alsons Power Supply Corporation (APSC)\u00a0and\u00a0MPC Iligan\u00a0spearheaded a\u00a0coastal cleanup\u00a0at Centennial Park in Dalipuga, collecting\u00a0110 kilos of recycleable and non-biodegradable waste\u00a0and mobilizing\u00a0over 75\u00a0volunteers.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Siayan-Zambo River Power Corporation (SZPC)\u00a0conducted a\u00a0tree planting activity\u00a0in Barangay Poblacion, Siayan, Zamboanga del Norte, planting\u00a0120 narra\u00a0trees\u00a0with the support of\u00a0100 volunteers.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Group\u2019s\u00a0Makati team\u00a0helped green\u00a0La Mesa Eco Park\u00a0through a\u00a0tree planting activity\u00a0involving\u00a0over 32 employees\u00a0and\u00a0150 seedlings.<\/p>\n
\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In\u00a0Sarangani,\u00a0Sarangani Energy Corporation (SEC)\u00a0and\u00a0Siguil Hydro Corporation\u00a0brought the spirit of \u201cWe Power with Care\u201d to schools by turning over\u00a0Smart TVs, school bags, and supplies to more than 500 students\u00a0from nearby schools. A\u00a0special book reading session\u00a0was also held.\u00a0Earlier that day, employees from both plants also participated in a tree planting activity within the SEC premises as part of the celebration.<\/p>\n

Aside from education and environmental activities, Alsons Power also turned over the community share of the Municipality of Maasim and Barangay Kamanga from the SEC, reinforcing the Group\u2019s commitment to inclusive growth and sustainable development. The community share forms part of the Department of Energy\u2019s Energy Regulation ER 1-94 program, which requires energy companies to allocate funds to support local communities. These funds can be used for infrastructure, livelihood, and other local development initiatives.<\/p>\n
Under the Energy Regulations (ER) 1-94 program of the Department of Energy, host communities of power generation facilities are entitled to financial benefits to fund electrification, livelihood, health, and environmental projects.<\/p>\n

These efforts reinforced Alsons Power\u2019s commitment to its brand promise, \u201cWe Power with Care,\u201d highlighting the Group\u2019s broader push to integrate sustainability into its operations and uplift the communities it serves.<\/p>\n
Founded in 1992, Alsons Power was one of the pioneers in addressing power shortages in Mindanao through its partnership with the National Power Corporation under the Northern Mindanao Power Corporation. Today, the company operates over 460 megawatts of capacity from a mix of renewable and conventional energy sources.<\/p>\n
With a growing pipeline of hydro and solar projects, Alsons Power is actively expanding its renewable energy portfolio, aligned with national goals for cleaner, more sustainable power generation.<\/p>\n
